Shiatsu Therapy

It is a hands-on therapy originating from Japan. Its purpose is to promote and maintain good health as well as to treat specific conditions. 
Shiatsu is based on the principles of Eastern medicine, where the vital energy (Qi in Chinese) is thought to circulate throughout the body along "meridians". When the vital energy flows smoothly, we are healthy; disease results from imbalances in its flow. 

What is a shiatsu treatment?
Shiatsu therapy is a holistic form of treatment, focusing on the whole person: both body and mind. It involves the application of pressure at key points and along the meridians as well as stretching the body to help correct its imbalances and stimulate its natural healing process. 
From a Western medicine point of view, shiatsu pressure calms an overactive nervous system and promotes deep relaxation which helps to reduce stress, tension and pain, and to improve organ function.

What should I expect during my visit?
The treatment is done on a shiatsu mat laid on the floor. It can also be done on a massage table. 
Shiatsu treatment is done over the clothes and no oil or lotion is required. Since you keep your clothes on, it is recommended that you wear a loose, comfortable outfit (i.e. avoid skirt or jeans).

Foot Reflexology


It is a holistic, natural healing therapy which takes the whole person into consideration. The goal of the treatment is to bring the body’s systems into their own proper balance. 
Reflexology is based on the theory that there are energy zones within the body, which are going from the feet to the top of the head.

What is a reflexology treatment?
It is a hands-on manipulation of reflex points on the foot, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Treatment consists of pressure applied to these points, in order to create the conditions under which the self-healing process can start.
When a person feels tired, experiences stress, is sick or injured, the body is in a state of imbalance and the vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning properly. Reflexology can help open up the blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage is a hands-on therapy developed in Thailand. Thai massage uses passive stretching and slow, rhythmic, mindful pressure along the body’s energy lines (Sen).

Its purpose is to heal a person physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually by releasing blockage or stagnation and restoring the flow of energy through the body

The treatment is performed on a comfortable mat on the floor. No lubricant is applied, and you remain fully dressed. Please bring or wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Breathing exercises
Proper breathing is important for our health.
Breathing exercises can be taught during the treatment and be given as a part of self-care. Using diaphragmatic breathing also known as “abdominal breathing” can increase relaxation, improve digestion, strengthen immune system, relax the muscles of shoulders, neck and jaw. 

Stretching
Stretching techniques are incorporated into the treatment and may be given as a part of self-care. 
Stretching feels good and can relieve stress. It reduces muscle tension, increases flexibility and range of motion. It improves circulation and posture for a better health. 

Anpuku (or Ampuku)  [Anpuku]  
It is a form of abdominal massage developed in Japan. It is used especially during shiatsu therapy treatment. 
In shiatsu, the abdomen is the important part of the body because it is considered the centre of the vital life energy. The main purpose of the treatment is to rebalance the imbalance of the vital life energy. 
This abdominal treatment can help improve internal organ functions, promote digestion and elimination, reduce low back pain as well as neck and shoulder stiffness. Or it simply feels good and relaxes the whole body.
